Co ferrite thin films were prepared on MgO (100) substrates by metal organic decomposition (MOD). Crystalline structure, surface morphology, magnetic properties, and composition were investigated. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern of the Co ferrite thin films indicates that CoFe2O4 was grown. A transmission electron microscopy measurement reveals that the Co ferrite thin film prepared by MOD has a layered structure. Magnetic properties were measured to study the magnetic anisotropy of the Co ferrite films.
